It's not covered in this post, but in as many places as I can, I have opted for #opensource solutions. I'm particularly geeked about replacing Apple Notes with Joplin and switching the synchronization settings from Dropbox to a self-hosted #Joplin server on my #CasaOS.

Столько людей просят сделать, а им плевать. Я же в свою очередь, человек простой, если плевать на мнение пользователя, то мне как пользователю плевать на #Automattic

I had been thinking I'd like to quit #Evernote for some time, and Evernote finally pushed me to make the leap by suddenly trying to extort more money from me for the same service. I installed #Joplin (open source!), exported my Evernote notes, imported them into Joplin, cancelled my Evernote plan, and deleted everything. Coincidentally, my Amazon Prime account expired a few days ago. These days, evil corporations make it easier to quit them by being completely crass about their money grubbing. (And when I say "money grubbing" I include trying to make money off your private data by selling it to LLMs or anyone else.)
@lpbkdotnet I would whisper "create a list in #Joplin with a #NextCloud backend", but that's another two projects you don't need!

Whilst I thank for the numerous good work you've done - is there any plan to implement a keyboard shortcut to switch between markdown editor and rich text editor? (Not the ctrl L to switch between preview and you panels)
Any discussion I've found, old or new, are simply "you are out of luck".
There are many cases where a document works better in a specific editor mode.

@tomminieminen I installed Leap. I don't need the latest or greatest. I just need a stable environment.
My writing laptop isn't a powerbeast that has to run servers, only #Nextcloud, #Joplin and #novelWriter and it does so perfectly.
I used to run xubuntu on it but i thought this would be a nice option to venture into. So far I like it. 
What are we swearing by for notes these days, fedi friends? I sync with #nextcloud and I use the Nextcloud Notes app on my phone... Desktop is a head scratcher. I'm resigned to #QOwnNotes right now but... I'm interested to hear what might be better. LMK!

Du sprachst in der Wochendämmerung davon, dass du die Nextcloud nutzt…
Ich bin von #Evernote auf #Joplin umgestiegen (hat auch einen Evernote Importer) und speichere alles in meiner #Nextcloud.
Joplin hat auch eine guten WebClipper. Also ich kann‘s empfehlen
Before ordering I used my #LinuxMint 2011 MacBook Air to give Linux a proper test drive and set up alternatives to my apps I relied on in the Apple ecosystem:
- Apple Notes => #Joplin @joplinapp
- Apple Mail, Calendar, Contacts => #Thunderbird @thunderbird
- Reminders => #Vikunja (better than Reminders for actual projects, worse when it comes to iPhone and alerts)
- iMessage => #Threema (still have to convince more friends) and #WhatSie
I never updated this. I had some synchronisation issues with #Joplin on Android that I struggled to get fixed, so I abandoned it, and went to an #Obsidian + syncthing + borg backup solution, which I'm now using every day and am very happy with. I haven't used many plugins yet - will explore them over time.

@holgi wenn du mit markdown zurecht kommst bzw. dir das reicht - ich bin vor vielen jahren auf #joplin umgestiegen und war nie glücklicher. für jede plattform, sync über eigene cloudlösungen, schnell, und ende zu ende verschlüsselt (falls gewünscht) - ich brauche keine dateianhänge, das könnte man aber lösen. (link geht natürlich a la markdown)

I do the rest of my composing, and a lot of the first drafts in #joplin and sometimes #obsidian.
The cool thing about #hugo is I can do all three interchangeably and there are even more options! #FOSSFTW
