I'll tell you all, a whole LOT of people on the #Fediverse (especially those on bigger instances) that I have respect for are showing their true colors over these last couple of days and it's really a shame.
It's like they don't even acknowledge Meta/FB's history of doing business plus deep down, they give you know what about the #openweb these days.
The majority of folks that joined (myself included) want to really get away from corporate #socialmedia and rely on something smaller and ethical. I fear that letting a corporate behemoth inevitably swallow these places are going to leave very bad tastes in everyone's mouth.
I hope that I'm wrong on this, because I would love to be wrong.
In other words: Prove. Me. Wrong.
I, and a lot of folks who do much remember #Google effectively left #XMPP in the wasteland back in the first half of the 2010s and we're still paying that price today.
