@koteisaev @moelassus In the US at least, if you do that, prison time is a certainty per the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) so there's a reason why we don't see that.

That would be like jailbreaking a phone you own being illegal.
@grantlemons @koteisaev @moelassus All modern cars have smart capabilities and increasingly you don't actually "own" your car so the CFAA absolutely comes into play.
