Another courtesy is to use CW with the *pol or similar as subject above the fold.
Some of us intentionally do not follow regional, national, or foreign politics. We do have interest in other topics. Use of these courtesies might just convince someone to press that Follow icon

My searches turn up plenty of links explaining federation and how to log in. I am having trouble finding things like what you posted, and do not want to blindly apply norms I learned elsewhere here.
