The inescapable problem with federating Bluesky after the fact is that it didn't start out federated, and now they have almost every one of the 20M+ users on *their PDS/relay/appview infrastructure*.
Adding federation now won't change that, and having third-party federation isn't going to keep a potentially evil future 1/2
