I agree with things like abolition of the rideshare industry AND abolition of cars completely BUT with a caveat:

If your plan is just "rely on family and friends" or "rely on community services/existing public transit" - this is writing off disabled people, especially in areas with bad seasonal weather or long walking distances to transit, to being location-bound/homebound.

Your abolition plan *needs* to consider disabled nondrivers and disabled drivers who have no non-car infrastructure.

Your abolition plan NEEDS to consider how you will expand public transit AND create free or at-cost ridesharing outside of the companies/their bullshit ecosystem until/if people are no longer in car-dependent areas. It needs to expand electric trikes and other electric mobility.

it needs to have a holistic aim of rebuilding spaces to eradicate car dependency, but also, not put undue weight on disabled people who may *not* be able to stand or walk long distances, or drive themselves at all
/rant

(And I say this as a disabled non-driver - for various reasons - myself. Do I want to see Uber and Lyft abolished? Fuck yeah. Do I want to see public transit *everywhere* and nowhere being car dependent? YES and I miss living in a more accessible to transit area.

And even living with a relative who can and does drive me places, that makes me even more aware of just how isolating it can be, how dependent that makes you, if even to take public transit you need a ride to the trolley station)

It's like, I've had to use rideshares to go places when no one else could take me etc

And I hate supporting that industry, I will also say that we NEED something better. Ideally we need to work on a safer at-cost carpool/hitchhiking network in the short term that doesn't profit VCs and cost so much

And we need to work harder for no cars needed just to go somewhere *for any reason* whether necessities like food or medicine or even just for a fun trip - as the future
