2020. #SelfPortraits using a friend's DIY #PinholeCamera Shot w/only candle lighting. Made into a double collage.
I was introduced to #photography by a kind & attentive nurse, while being a live-in patient at local children's hospital. She also got me my first camera, a Kodak Brownie.
I have always enjoyed experimenting with shooting with many different cameras. Manual or digital. I like the challenge of learning to shoot w/a wide variety of cameras.
Racial slurs
While growing up, mean kids would make fun of my #Teochew #Chinese facial features a lot. They'd call me things like slant eyed chink, squinty gook, mongloid mutt, chinky cheeks & other racist derogatory names. Until I grew up & became stronger, those hurt & made me feel ashamed of my natural ethnic features. Racist bullies traumatized me & the effects lasted for years.
I love ALL my natural born physical features in my 40s & won't tolerate folks being derogatory to me about them.
I also reached my strong #SelfEmpowerment stage in my 40s. Until then, I was too self conscious to show my scarred & atrophied legs in public or show my essential 2 long leg braces needed for daily mobility. It was from being bullied for being/looking disabled upon entering public school & not wanting to be a bully target. Up til then, I was only around other disabled kids & no one bullied anyone else. Public school was a big rude awakening for me. I developed CTPSD starting then.
