Can't disagree with that. I originally set up OwnCloud in 2013 to be a self-hosted alternative to Google Calendar, and does a good job as a CalDAV server. And it's expanded to do file syncing as well, but its desktop sync app has lost data - I just want to stop sync on a folder, the app insists on deleting the local copy. I say that's a bug.

WebDAV works well enough for remote file access, but it's too slow for me to foist on anyone else.

And I used Collabra to do some shared document editing, but it was a pain to set up (and still feels fragile). WebRTC has never worked, and anything on the WebUI is awful.

But Nextcloud is the least awful thing I've found that does these things, so I'm sticking with it for now.
