Today we honor the life of Martin Luther King Jr and his legacy of non-violent activism during the Civil Right Movement.
We should remember that the idea of celebrating Dr. King’s extraordinary legacy was not universally accepted.
The bill to create MLK day was signed into law in 1983, but #MLKDay not officially celebrated by all 50 states until 2000.
As we continue to advocate in #Loudoun, we will remember Dr King’s words and remain committed to his vision. #MLKDay2023
