I'm fucking done!

Not #PewDiePie out here down the #Linux desktop ricing deep end, teaching people how to use grep and systemd-analyze, making his own animated neofetch distro logo (which I didn't even know was a thing?!?!?!) and writing his own custom systemd service units to switch his Hyprland layout depending on whether any window is open or not.

This timeline is wack as shit, dude!

Why The US Is Really 12 Nations (Not 50 States)

Is the United States truly "one nation?" While the country is often defined as a single entity, the reality is that there are actually closer than 12 nations united under a single flag. Within the United States today, there are different cultural nations that each have their own values, priorities and preferences. And each of these nations compete and cooperate with each other depending on the issues. Oh, and the most important bit? These nations do NOT fall along state borders.

In this video, we'll cover what the 12 Nations of America are, how they formed historically and what they look like geographically, what it means for a single country to actually have 12 different nations within it, and what each nation would look like IF they were ever independent.

Ok, hive: memory request.

Really bad scifi movie. Alien ice world. I think a "response team" trying to find out why a science station went offline.
Gimmick: The ice itself is sentient. I think it may even be trying to take people over? Not sure about that part.

Anyone know this one?

So far, that "data mining" has been confined to our phones and computers. But now, a group of lawmakers are speaking out about an even further breach of privacy: companies scraping data from brain implants.

The memo notes that neural data is "deeply personal" and "strategically sensitive," likely holding secrets to our mental health, emotions, and cognitive abilities. They cite a recent study by the NeuroRights Foundation that found that the "vast majority" of brain implant companies collect data with "few limits, vague policies, and reserve sweeping rights to share it," referencing the lucrative sale of data to advertising firms and AI companies.

🚨 New Article: Is It Worth Killing Mozilla to Shave Off Less Than 1% From Google’s Market Share?

The DOJ is seeking to cancel all of Google's revenue-sharing deals with browser vendors. 🧵

✅ We agree the Apple-Google deal should be cancelled.

⚠️ But we're concerned about the impact on smaller browsers — especially Mozilla.

💰 Google currently pays Mozilla about $410–$420 million per year.

Life savings and dignity

"A woman says her family’s fresh start in Oklahoma turned into a nightmare after federal immigration agents raided their home, taking their phones, laptops, and life savings – even though they were not the suspects the agents were looking for.

Marisa said the men identified themselves as federal agents with the U.S. Marshals, ICE, and the FBI."
She said they ordered her and her daughters outside into the rain before they could even put on clothes.

“They wanted me to change in front of all of them, in between all of them,” she said. “My husband has not even seen my daughter in her undergarments—her own dad, because it’s respectful. You have her out there, a minor, in her underwear.”

So, all of my hashtags are now and will be in camel case. You've convinced me. Convincing me with inclusion is rather easy.

Still Think Democrats Aren't Fighting Back? Introducing Lauren Underwood.

Providing a clear legislative alternative to Trump and the Republicans is an important part of battling the Trump administration. She co-sponsored, along with Gregory Meeks, Suzan DelBenne and others, a bill to terminate Trump’s declaration of a national emergency that he used to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico, a bill to expand subsidies under the ACA, a bill to add certain cancer screening tests to Medicare and Medicaid, a bill to change labour laws to make organizing unions easier, and a bill to provide the admission of Washington DC as a state.

Another bill she co-sponsored would stop Elon Musk and his adolescent Musk Minions from accessing American’s personal information. Two days ago, she signed a discharge petition in order to try and force it to a vote in the House.

Americans need to join with those engaged in the fight against Trump. Their actions need to be highlighted, their work recorded, and their courage supported. It is for this reason that I chose to amplify the vast majority of Democrats, especially those like Lauren Underwood, that are unheralded and less well known, who are meeting the moment with strength and resolve every day.

Benito Mussolini's Death At The Hands Of Italian Partisans In 1945

Il Duce returned to Italy triumphantly and continued to suppress his opposition. Members of the Fascist Party tortured anyone with alternate views, deported people with non-Italian names ...

However, that still isn’t the end of the story of Benito Mussolini’s death. In 1966, the U.S. military returned a slice of Mussolini’s brain to his family. Officials had cut out a portion of his brain to test for syphilis. The results were inconclusive.

Rev. William Barber arrested in Capitol Rotunda after praying against Republican-led budget

“The arrest of Bishop Barber feels like the most clear example of hypocrisy of the Trump administration when they talk about anti-Christian bias,” Raushenbush said. “They are not interested in the broad expression of faith as exemplified by Bishop Barber, but rather only Christians approved of by the Trump administration.”

“Forty-three percent of women and almost half of all children are poor and low income,” Barber told the crowd, citing an assessment of Economic Policy Institute data. “Somebody ought to say something … Somebody gotta challenge this budget.”

The protest was the beginning of a “Moral Monday” campaign that Barber said he hopes will feature demonstrations every week moving forward. It’s an approach to activism the pastor has used to great effect in the past. Today’s protest was launched on the 12-year anniversary of the original Moral Monday protest movement he organized in North Carolina in 2013, which was credited with helping unseat the governor in that state.

and tbh, this is why fedi is great. if this were a centralized social platform that kind of publicity might scare whoever's running it into doing stuff to seem more "impartial" (read: friendly to the fascists) but since fedi is an anarchist collective, there's no authority to appeal to and nobody to pressure to get us to stop bullying fascists off fedi :D

I agree very much and signed the petition.

Duffy is a doofus. He wants to use DOT funds to support white-supremacist pronatalism (shifting project funding to specific suburban areas where birth/marriage rates are above average or some nonsense). He likely considers bicycling to be ‘woke’ and actively wants to reduce it.

This is weird--bikes are right up RFK Jr.s alley. Seems to me the cohesive voters are rallying behind a chaotic leadership, where the coordinated leadership can't get a grip on its voter base.

Signed, but TBH, with petitions, I'm not sure the spam is worth the hand-off of my power to hands that don't run with it. As much as we need petitions, we need winning strategies of which they are just one part.

On March 6, two plain-clothed officers came to Jackson's home. One said, 'We have information that you are obstructing an immigration investigation.' The men refused to tell Jackson their names or badge numbers. Jackson shut the door.

These facts were reported by journalist Radley Balko. The day Balko’s story was published, Jackson was fired from his job at Fidelity National Financial."
