SECRET PANTS are under way!
As in, I have cleared the table enough to cut out the pattern pieces. The pocket size is excellent. :JustRight:

Next time I have energy I'll do a mockup without altering the pattern pieces and just making the pleats smaller, see how that goes. I only need a few more centimeters in the waist. If that doesn't work I can decide where to slash and spread the pattern pieces later.

Stopped into Joann Fabrics since they're shutting down and discounting everything. Grabbed some foam core boards and a few packs of fabric squares that are good for small projects (dice bags, pouches, that sort of stuff). Some of the fabric they had left was tempting but the line to get it cut was super long, I wouldn't have made it out for at least another hour.

The space bees fabric might have been worth the wait, though.

Beaded shoulders support system designed!

With loose cowl neckline these heavy shoulders could end up at my elbows without help.

In my tests I can jump and move and they just stay put.

The loops in the front are basically self leveling, to minimize distortion.

A delicate balance with the amount of tension! Too much and the dresses waistband will distort.

Elastic suspenders keeing target heavy, wide beaded shoulder straps in place. Elastic forms a loop along the top Edge, has another piece of elastic looped on to that that connects down to a waistband.
Back beaded shoulder straps, even wider than the front. The elastic meets at a v at the center back. There are no additional loops, however

Shirt met wijde mouwen

Zo, het is even stil geweest, maar dat is niet omdat ik heb stilgezeten. Er is intussen nog een linnen overhemd gemaakt voor de man des huizes (daar volgt nog wel een verhaaltje over als ik de mouwen, die absurd lang blijken te zijn toch maar wat korter heb gemaakt). En ik ben met allerlei kleinere rommelprojectjes bezig geweest waar ik misschien nog eens iets over te melden heb, maar nu nog niet.

Sunday #sewing again! I’ve been wanting to make something with these cotton canvas fabric panels for a while - decided to make another Closet Core Sienna Maker jacket. Also added some buttons with vintage fabric that I bought a couple of years ago

I have finished the little linen blouse! Tried out a new sleeve pattern, the rest of it is pretty much a redo of an older pattern. Plenty of hand sewing to keep me busy, scraps of lace, these little buttons I like and adjustable waistband. Vaguely early nineteen-aughts, mostly to just wear at home!

A white blouse laid atop a desk, with a curved standing collar, full sleeves gathered onto narrow cuffs. Twelve small shell buttons, white, in groups of three on a wide-ish button placket in the centre front. The bust dart fullness has been shifted onto the waist, where it has been gathered onto the tall waistband. It is a little blouse! It looks neat, tidily made and old fashioned. Sini's pale hand in the frame. Some cotton tape and the edge of a sewing machine, also.
Close up photo of the collar, front and applied lace. It is all hues of white, the linen crisp and snowy and the pears and linen lace a more natural white. The collar has top stitching in white, and the inside of it has been sewn on with whipstitch by hand, and then the top stitch by machine. The unsupported button placket is such a soft fabric that the buttons, when done up, slightly warp it sideways. This is not extremely noticeable and is mostly indicative of how comfortable the blouse is going to be. The buttons are small and shiny and slightly different, being organic.
Close up of the narrow cuff, which has one tiny button holding it closed. The sleeve slit is a tiny narrow hand sewn hem, with blanket stitch holding the fork of the slit, stopping it from unravelling. It's tiny and quite neat. Some black cat hair has made its way into the fabric and some of the stitching, probably going to live there forever.
The hooks and thread bars of the waistband. Two silver hooks and two thread bars. The hooks have been sewn inside the layers of the waistband, the end of which has been finished by hand, enclosing all the metal except the very gripping part. The handles of the hook thing have been stitched through all layers to hold them in place. This, also, is quite tiny and tidily done. The other pair of thread bars not hooked into in the photo are a centimetre or so away, making it possible to cinch the blouse a tiny bit tighter. Sini's pink fingers and shiny silver rings seen, also. She's tragically broken the nail on her thumb, it's very short!

I have washed some oh gods I think like 16 metres of linen lace, and it's all skronkled and shrunkled up, and the correct procedure after this, the pre-shrinkening, is to gently iron them straight after a tiny bit of drying. This, of course, stops them from shrinking once they're on a garment that gets washed... But also means untwisting and ironing about a million sea leagues of wet lace that is also tangled up, even with the wash basket that protected it!

With the hour late enough that my #sewing machine could turn back into a pumpkin at any moment, the shell of Abby’s suede coat is done. Tomorrow I’ll try to power through as much of the lining as possible.

UPDATE: Finally, something worth reporting.

My multi-quilt project, which I have mentioned here before, is at the stage where all 14 mini-quilts are quilted, and each one has a hanging sleeve fully attached.

Next stage: labels. The person who commissioned the quilts wants each quilt to get a different label, based on the recipient (not just their name). I'm waiting on the content for the labels.

Prototype window shade. The thick polyester fabric is intended for drapery and shades. The front is canvas-like and the back is satin. The fabric resembles double weave but with an extra padding weft between the front and back layers. (Also, no obvious pattern.)

Supposedly this fabric doesn’t need lining, although the back snags easily. It’s ok for now while I plan something nicer and with more insulation.

Attached with Command picture hanging strips. Todo: cutout for handle.
