Putin's recent calls to mobilise parts of the population are a sign that Russia's invasion is failing.

It is a statement of weakness.

We strongly condemned Russia's actions in Ukraine.

From the WTF public license FAQ, on profanity

«But profanity is offensive!
You know what? Fuck your stance on profanity. Fuck your priorities in life. The WTFPL is about fucking freedom and we mean it. Freedom means freedom to copy and modify and share works of art and science with the rest of mankind, but also freedom to be gay and marry and have crazy gay sex, freedom to have tattoos, freedom to say there is no God, freedom to take the pill, freedom to have an abortion. People die for being gay or atheists. Don’t tell me that there is something sacred enough that it must be protected from the mere existence of the word “fuck”. If the F in WTFPL offends you, then fuck you and your beliefs. Triple fuck you.»

The scale of a marble quarry can be so huge that an excavator might look like a toy

People want to be safe, secure, and have privacy. People also want to no have to jump through hoops to have those things.

If you want people using your software to be safe, secure, and have privacy, make it happen by default, when your software is used in the obvious way.

Yes please!

There's no point of boasting green credentials when we allow #bigtech to force users into buying a new phone or tablet every 1-2 years.

Planned obsolescence is the negation of sustainability. Devices that are hard to repair should never ever touch the European soil again.

Tossing away a device made of metals, glass, silicon and rare earths and buy a new one just because the producer won't provide us with spare parts (or even allow us to remove the back cover) is immoral on so many levels. And it doesn't benefit anyone except the profits of the producer (so much for the myth of capitalist profits aligned with the majority's interests and priorities).

Make devices that can easily be repaired, provide repair instruction and spare parts, or don't even sell your shit on my continent.

the mastodon instance at cybre.space is retiring

for a lot of reasons, both personal and practical, i don't think i can effectively run a public mastodon instance any more, and i need to retire cybre.space. i want to do this responsibly and make sure everyone has a chance to migrate and export properly, so here is the plan for the instance retirement (feel free to share this link around): cybre.space/~chr/cybre-space-e

due to ongoing moderation load issues and understaffing, between now and 1 november, the instance may be undermoderated. for other instances, if this poses an issue for you, i encourage you to use federation tools at your discretion. i would only ask that you be clear and public about your decisions so that cybre.space users can figure out where they will be able to migrate their accounts.

thank you

Putin's deplorable attempt to deny Ukraine its freedom will not succeed.

Ukraine and its immensely brave people will prevail. We will continue to help for as long as it takes.

friend of mine starting a new job, and in an onboarding email, rather than "human resources" system, they asked for info for their "human capital management" system and that is WAY WORSE
