@tomasino

extensions.pocket.enabled = false

@tomasino "we'd like to make everyone's Web experience better and safer, so, we're gonna add a random malware feed every time you open a new page... hey! Where'd everyone go??"

WHAT THE EVER FUCKING FUCK MOZILLA??? DRM and then this bullshit?

You're dead to me.

@tomasino i dont get pocket. How many times must we reskin the bookmark function?

@tomasino On the one hand, they're trying to make it clear that any personalization is being done client side. And that sort of tech is needed in order to help many avoid the perils of it being done serverside.

On the other-hand they do not make it clear where the feed comes from except from Pocket. And Pocket is a bookmarking service, so I don't trust them not to use the data they collect for no real reason to pre-personalize the stream.

@alcinnz
will soon experiment with showing an occasional sponsored story ... Ah well

Been using Wallabag for half a year.totally recommend it.
@tomasino

@mdfrg @tomasino Well, I've already ditched them for my own work.

And I've certainly got gripes with how they've implemented bookmarking & recommendations, which I will avoid making those same mistakes. They're not going all the way to support an Open Web.

@tomasino I hope they make public the number of people who opt out of all sponsored content, or stop using the product altogether

@tomasino So not only they didn't make Pocket foss as promised, but integrate it even more into FF. It's like Mozilla Corporation (entity which funds Firefox development) was an advertising company or something... oh wait... computerworld.com/article/3240 $500 million from advertising companies like Yahoo and Google, who knew.

Maybe it's time to realize Mozilla is not the good guy it used to be and just another corporate shitfest.
