Please stop enabling ppl showing off their private parts here on Mastodon... unless Mastodon has recently turned into a porn site without me knowing?? They obviously need help. It's not normal.

@snowdusk_ Mastodon isn't a porn site and it isn't *not* a porn site. It's a decentralised network that nobody can impose a single standard of conduct on, and that's the *whole point*. Not everybody has the same views on these things, so why should we try to force everybody to behave the same way? There *is* no "here on Mastodon", it's a different place to different people. Don't follow people you don't approve of, and do ask them to use NSFW tags, but live and let live. :)

Please stop enabling ppl showing off their awful takes here on Mastodon... unless Mastodon has recently turned into a site for retards without me knowing?? They obviously need help. It's not normal.

@snowdusk_ idk why you're being attacked so much about your personal preference. I'm sorry people are being rude.

@snowdusk_ Which instances are you seeing the content from? That's the important part. If SDF doesn't condone porn then it'll be trivial for them to block federation with that particular instance, but be warned that doing it on the instance level causes damage to the overall network graph. It's less tyrannical to expect users to curate their own experience.

The influx of NSFW material on the Fediverse was triggered by Tumblr banning all adult material. We can expect that other platforms will follow suit in attempts to de-platform "undesirables", which is the exact use case where the Fediverse shines. It's extremely censorship resistant, and that's a good thing. It just comes at the price of sometimes seeing shit you don't want to see.

@snowdusk_
Some instances in Mastodon allow porn, every instance does have its own rules. But you can block whole instances if you don't agree about their policy
