I started running off the meta array again so I can run it on any computer with ssh connection. jekyll is such a power hogger. It takes 100% of CPU usage for about 3 minutes everytime I build my site and I build at least 3 times every post, usually, and so I feel bad hogging all the precious CPU power from other ma users 😭 but I wonder if this is normal? this was one of the reason why I started running jekyll frm my local computer. No one has complained so far so I will carry on βœŒοΈπŸ€

@snowdusk_ I think it's just the nature of Jekyll and the fact that it's written in Ruby; once your site gets big, build times really start to ramp up. It's one of the reasons why I switched my SDF site from Jekyll to Hugo.

@failtime Yeah I figured it's the size of my site that's been causing this. I've been meaning to look at Hugo but I've just been lazy to figure out a new platform and scared to migrate to it. I will look into it when I get the chance for sure πŸ‘

@snowdusk_ Luckily it wasn't too bad to migrate. I just copied all of the Markdown files for my posts into the proper location in my Hugo directory. I think I had to tweak some of the frontmatter, but it wasn't too bad. I also kept my Jekyll directory intact in case I couldn't figure out Hugo and needed to switch back, though that didn't end up being necessary.

@failtime I have all my posts in HTML and not MD. I didn't check whether Hugo can take them. I decided to use HTML instead of MD because I was more familiar with HTML than MD when I migrated to jekyll about 3 yrs ago. I know MD is much easier and faster to create than HTML but somehow some of my codes would not work with markdown (probably just due to my laziness to learn new things again haha). I will do what you did and play around Hugo for a bit

@snowdusk_ Oops, I missed this reply. I didn't even realize you could use HTML with Jekyll for your posts, haha. I can't say if Hugo works with it or not.

@failtime yikes I just found out Hugo is not installed on the clusters. I prefer a site builder that's already installed there. I don't really want to request it to be installed and end up not using it πŸ˜‚πŸ’¦

@failtime not on ma either... i will install it locally and play with it first πŸ‘

@snowdusk_ It's just a single binary. I pull the latest release from their GitHub page and throw it into ~/bin/, which I have in my $PATH.

@failtime cool!! OK that's good ti hear πŸ‘πŸ‘
