Bell Labs has transferred ownership of Plan 9 to the Plan 9 Foundation.

The Plan 9 Foundation has immediately re-released 1st through 4th Editions under the MIT license.

I am really, really excited about this.

someone the other day said something about pipes not composing well, which i vowed to contemplate on

anyway, while working on something i noticed a section in the 9front fqa where it mounts a subshell's standard output as a filesystem:

mount <{9660srv -s} /n/iso /path/to/9front.iso

Obviously Acme doesn't have Org and ox-pandoc, which is how I write almost everything for every purpose. Acme doesn't have dired, or ivy/counsel/swiper. It's totally different. But, something about it feels more "right" in a way I didn't expect.

at my job we end up looking at a lot of extremely niche programming languages that we aren't familiar with and don't have much of an ecosystem around them

my coworker tends to write plugins for syntax highlighting for the new languages - having highlighting and then suddenly not having it is definitely jarring

i use acme with no syntax highlighting so i never have it anyway so i don't miss it when using something new

feels very "nasa engineered a space pen, soviets used a pencil"

Woah! Sigrid is porting SDL2 to Plan9, that means that it's insta making available Dotgrid, Nasu, Uxn, Left and Moogle(and probably Orca with tiny mods).

Sorry for all people who waited for new content. I was busy finishing university and also thinking about this account.

The idea behind this account is to bring all 9 related topics to the public. It is a channel not only for 9front but also other 9 related technology.

i stumbled onto this when looking for examples of /lib/namespace configuration and applications, and it's a really nice introduction to working with the plan 9, uh, namespace / directory structure / filesystem / fileservers / whatever

Plan 9 has been selected to participate in Google Summer of Code! 🎉

I'm really glad to be back in this; it's a fun program. If you are a student, or know some, check it out.

looking for a 3d artist to model a few simple-ish hard surface objects for use in a cool game project! freelance gig, short-term, marginalized / underrepresented people preferred.

Short report: echoline's drawterm works fine, lag is noticeable, soft keyboard doesn't work (blurtooth keyboard does), android mouse is not supported (only touch, the offset-bug is annoying), no landscape mode. I guess there are some patches needed...
