@chaosmonk @neauoire my webpage as well as webpages from other 9people are also very mothra-friendly. Also there are some gemini plan9 pages that are by specification human readable

Wrote my first variadic function in #plan9 C, added symmetry and extrude functions. Making little houses like this one is super simple.

The symmetry has an edge offset bug, but I'm trying to figure that one out, see the diagonal? not supposed to be there.

@royniang @nf @csepp @neauoire sure, but modern vps servers are not cheaper if you buy more of them. I could pay for another fileserver and change my auth, but that's no win for me.

Turns out doing 3D graphics on :rpi: is totally fine.

@solderpunk @glenda someone in one of the toot threads shared the Plan 9 Papers and it’s a really great read!

Wait? Everything in is a file? Like, I just clone a connection “directory” and write “connect 127.0.0.1!8000” to /net/tcp/0 and that’s a TCP connection? Holy smokes!

@khm removing the browser is the first and most necessary step to making something which is actually innovative

@neauoire same here 😅 werkkzeug is a tool for demo creation. It can modify meshes with parameters. For example to extrude you can select faces with a cube and extrude them. It works with stacked methods

Tried to implement an extrude function, that did not disappoint.

I noticed a website I use has a 16KiB *javascript* thats sole job is to download the "best" favicon.ico format for my specific browser. A typical favicon is around 1KiB. What a collosal waste of energy and time the www has become.

A friend of mine was inspired by the little 3d wireframe project to learn geometry, I told them to setup one of their disused RPis, with plan9.

They said it would be too much trouble, it has now been 2 days, a 11GB install of XCode later, more hours wasted fighting with openGL toolkits, followed by an attempt at using canvas - to finally give up about about this whole thing and not learn a single thing about geometry. Classic

sirjofri boosted

today is my day off, time to note more things on plan 9 :}

sirjofri boosted

@neauoire a real hardware stack with the possibility to add hardware acceleration with industry standards, so we can compile standard shaders and run them on plan9. Realtime 3d graphics industry standard compatible etc

sirjofri boosted

Oh my god.

I've always thought 3D was this complicated thing, I would include these big libraries and frameworks to make 3d stuff, but in reality, all I needed was these 2 little functions?! Are you kidding me.

Show thread

@neauoire can we just make some true shader stuff with spir-v etc?
