Beaded shoulders support system designed!

With loose cowl neckline these heavy shoulders could end up at my elbows without help.

In my tests I can jump and move and they just stay put.

The loops in the front are basically self leveling, to minimize distortion.

A delicate balance with the amount of tension! Too much and the dresses waistband will distort.

@sewblue brilliant bit of engineering! Also, because I’m 12, I can’t help but giggle every time you post your dress form.

@mjg the nipples were added by a bored 7 year old with a Sharpe!

Could have been soooooo much worse!

@sewblue @mjg I mean, it makes it instantly clear (in a 2-D representation of a 3-D object) which is the front and which is the back 😂

@sewblue Did you put your engineering skills to work in devising the support system? Were there suggestions for it in the documentation?

@sallymack I can't find much on construction details from this window of time. Lots of 1920's stuff, lots of 1940's stuff, but nothing from the 1930's. Elastic was a thing by this point, so it is possible but I can't claim it as period.

I don't see how you do some of those low back 1930's gowns without help though. I have sloping shoulders and would need some sort of help for this style, even without the extra weight.
