Find a cool product on Amazon?

That company exists OFF
Amazon, too.

1) Google company name.

2) Order from their site.

2a) Can usually find a 10% code!
3) Still get product in 2-8 days.

4) Company avoids losing 25%
margin share to Amazon.

5) You avoid giving money to
Bezos.

@salixlucida @OCRbot

This tends to be what I do most of the time. Fortunately, I never really got into the Amazon habit so it wasnโ€™t a huge change for me. Amazon is sometimes a tiny bit faster but aside from that, thereโ€™s really no downside.

@salixlucida @OCRbot Many things are better bought from other vendors. Musical instrument strings: stringsbymail.com and juststrings.com. Food and personal care: vitacost.com. And of course adafruit.com for Raspberry Pi.

@amylsacks @salixlucida

I bought some car detailing supplies (to use either after lockdown or cunning plan to detail the car in the yard outside work whilst completing a 2 hour backup job).

Because Prime has been suspended for this, Amazon are passing the burden back to the companies for shipping - one even put a flyer inside the box for their indepdendent website (its in the local area too), and out of curiosity I looked for the other item I wanted and found that from a local business too..

@salixlucida It's doesn't always work this way.

If the company has a website (not a fucking facebook page), AND an online shop
4a) You receive an unexpected amazon pakage, because the company outsource shipping to Amazon anyway.
2b) You avoid amazon, but you pay a shitload of taxes, so big companies like amazon can keep frauding, whilf local autority bastards are too busy trying to tax the air your breathโ€ฆ

@salixlucida @OCRbot except those times you pay more and then they end up shipping it with amazon anyway

@salixlucida And the same approach works for hotels etc. as well! Don't let the middlemen take all the money, instead support the small businesses that need the money now more than ever.
