#Win11 running on #bhyve on #HardenedBSD 14-CURRENT/arm64.

This is my primary Windows development VM for ${DAYJOB}.

oh my gods. they literally have no shame about this.

GitHub Support just straight up confirmed in an email that yes, they used all public GitHub code, for Codex/Copilot regardless of license.

I wish I had a bootable Oberon A2 image. Whenever I try to boot it on my 486 or PII, it just reboots.

The same image works under qemu, unfortunately.

My test system is a Compaq 486, and a Gateway PII-450, both running MS-DOS 6.22.

I know it doesn't quite behave right in DOSBox-X - seems that the ScreenRows() function in DJGPP's libc doesn't return the correct value or something there.

If anyone is interested, I've forked JASSPA's MicroEmacs 09, and made it run in MS-DOS properly again.

First release build is up: github.com/robdaemon/microemac

My primary use-case right now is MS-DOS, but I may make other fixes there too. I accept issues and pull requests too!

Is it too much to ask that there is some diversity in the management team at a company you find interesting? And more than just white men on the engineering team? 😢

After the heat dome

@cstanhope Yeah, most of my trees did okay. My two apple trees have a small amount of brown around the edges, but my ferns are very scorched. 🥴

Not a mutual on the bird site complaining that his electric rates will go up 0.00127773 per kWh because of an investment in renewables by his local municipal power service 🤡 🤡 🤡

While buying two NE2000 cards, this PowerMac 6500/250 fell into my hands. Oops.

Employee: ok, I'm resigning for a new job

Management: what?! This is a complete surprise!

How do you deal with the coworker who rewrites every piece of code he comes in contact with, and nitpicks everyone else’s code?

I feel like I’m about to lose my mind here.

Has anyone gotten Oberon V4 running on Linux x86-64? I get a segfault immediately running it.

I think it's the LinuxOberon.boot file - it's probably all 32 bit

@trurl That option was removed for many users today.

They later claimed it was a bug and restored the original behavior.

When you write hashtags, remember to use CamelCase (where each word has a capital letter).

This makes it much easier for blind and partially-sighted people's screen reader apps to read the hashtag out loud, and makes your message much more accessible.

For example #DogsOfMastodon is easier for a screen reader to say out loud than #dogsofmastodon, as CamelCase makes it obvious where the words are.

I don't think I'll ever be comfortable asking coding questions during interviews (as the interviewer)

I have a big blog post rattling around in my brain exploring what we’ve gained and lost in computing since the 80s, especially around the Internet and how much it rules everything around us. It’s entirely subjective in nature. I should sit and work on it.

Well the bird site has decided to remove the ability to have a chronological timeline, and is injecting a bunch of "suggested topics" into the feed. They're dead to me now.
