Like most parents, my wife and I set out to keep Kiddo away from screen-based electronic devices for as long as possible. And, like most parents, we have started to realize just how difficult this is.

Luckily we don't have any large screens (TV screens or computer monitors) or tablets in the house. But we do have smartphones, and to Kiddo, smartphones are the most amazing, magical things she has ever seen. I don't know how we didn't expect that reaction.

It started out just using the phone to play music for her. But she can SEE you playing music. She can SEE you flipping between screens and scrolling. And then she starts seeking out smartphones, stealing them when your back is turned, just to see if she can figure out how to turn it on.
