I think @ollyclarkdotorg recently used the word 'cock' when describing my brother-in-law.

Growing up around Manchester, this was a very common term as a minor-ish insult but also and perhaps bizarrely it could also be used as a term of endearment (I think this is also true in the Midlands) as in

'Are you alright, cock ?'

Listen to any MES interview. He uses the word a lot delivered with his Mancunian accent.


@andyc I've also recently started using Chopper interchangeably with Cock when I'm in politer society like the last place I worked in Manchester!! 🤣 🤣
