The banking app and prepaid card to teach your kids about money

Hmm? How many parents think this is a good idea to teach their kids the value of money?

I remember getting my first flat at 18 and ringing my mum.

𝗠𝗲: "I've got this thing from the gas board, something about £150?"
𝗠𝘂𝗺: "Its your gas bill, that's how much you have to pay this quarter."
𝗠𝗲: "WTF!?"

@dick_turpin You don't need a card or an app to teach kids the value of money. No pocket money and a paper round should suffice.

Years ago, a friend's daughter exploded - not with joy - but rage when she proudly received her first ever payslip.

'TAX ?!?!? WHAT'S THIS TAX THING ? WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY THIS TAX THING !?!?!'

'NI - WHAT THE HELL IS NI WHEN IT'S AT HOME ?!?!? THAT'S *MY* MONEY !'

@andyc My parents were different to us. They didn't tell me much about banks, bills etc. We told our daughters pretty much everything apart from how much the wife an I earn. So for example, how much a month I pay for the mortgage, What the bills are and how much. I even sat them down one days and explained what a P60 is.

@dick_turpin @andyc I got all that from my Mum the week before I started my first job, so I'd have an idea how far my wage would go if I thought about moving out.
