Finally getting around to using #Flatpak, so I can try out #Bookworm (https://babluboy.github.io/bookworm/). I use #Snappy often, but I really dig the app list at #Flathub: https://flathub.org/apps.html
I am leaning towards switching to #Fedora for the new year, so I want to get a sense of the app-container it chose.
@timotheus Red Hat and Fedora appear closer to the GNOME project than I had known, they contribute a lot upstream. Also, there are several projects that don't easily ship in the 16.04 LTS period, and I am afraid to get stuck in a similar situation for another two years.
I know, LTS doesn't apparently appeal to me, specifically! 😅
The real irony is, I am switching just as Ubuntu ships GNOME by default, after using the GNOME remix for years myself.
@timotheus As I explored *BSD and alt OSes, I realized I really liked what I knew about GNU/Linux, but more so I can honestly say I am a GNOME user. I don't pay attention to what is under that particular hood, system-wise, as long as it is secure and free software.
I might jump around, but I thought for 2018 I would try other distros that align with GNOME, and Fedora seems like the most aligned. ^_^
@maiki @timotheus Fedora FUNDS a lot of Gnome development too.
They really care about it and make sure it shines really well with the rest of their stack.
Whatever people's feelings on Fedora they give back a lot back to free software. More so than many distros with commercial backers.
@timotheus @maiki I conflated Fedora and Redhat quite a bit there but the point still stands.
@maiki why are you thinking of switching to Fedora?
