I think they'll use a massive, desperate work force to put smaller stores out of business, and then fire everyone when robots and chipped cards make them redundant (and because they couldn't organize in time).

@maiki Yeah, it seems pretty obvious to me that's their intent. I'm not sure whether they'll succeed at firing everyone (I know they'll try), but they probably will succeed at destroying competitors. Yet communities all across the US are bending over backwards to get Amazon warehouses in their backyard. We recently got three going around here. I'm sure we'll notice the effects in a few years.
