Frankly, I would not buy a Pixel phone, because I no longer have faith that #Google will not abandon the hardware at some point in the not too distant future.
@lauren is there a specific reason leading to this opinion or just the general trajectory of Google over the last several years?

I bought a fairphone, it's been pretty good so far
@lauren interesting. I picked up a refurbished Pixel 6 to test for various reasons and am VERY impressed in not only the hardware but also the Android OS. This is coming from someone who has used the iPhone since the original on day one. Won't be switching for day to day use but Apple has a lot to learn and ideas they could borrow that would definitely benefit them.
@lauren Sadly, they're the only phone manufacturer in the US at least who have easy ways to unlock bootloaders.
I know some in the EU do though.
