Did a thing to my old Thinkpad.

I haven’t really every delved into 9 before past booting it in a VM and saying “wtf?” so this is extremely exciting/intimidating to me. I don’t feel smart enough to be a 9 person yet

Update: trying to figure out how to make aux/wpa actually connect to my home WiFi but the spaces in the SSID are complicating that, combined with the fact that I understand absolutely nothing about factotum

@kl this bogged me down for a whiiiiile when i was learning. it's tricky to get all the escaping right, and i need to write up an explainer, but in the meantime this script i made has managed to work for me everywhere so far: http://maw.gay/wifi

@kl example of the sort of line you would put in wifipw:

echo 'key proto=wpapsk essid=''My Network'' !password=coolpass' > /mnt/factotum/ctl

that script will automatically connect to anything that it sees nearby that it has credentials for in factotum

if you use it and have problems with it lmk and i can try to fix it :)

@dogstar I ended up just impulsively changing the SSID and password to not have spaces, which made my wife and kids very excited when they had to reconnect their devices the next morning lol still, this script looks way more robust than the one I cobbled together! Thanks for sharing!

@kl no problem! i did that too when figuring things out, no worries :) just wanted to try and help if possible

@dogstar next up for me is git9. All my writing and to do lists and stuff are in text files so I use git to sync all that around. I didn’t see this in the README but I assume it works with SSH keys just like normal git?
