I enjoy the sound of a hard drive running. Don't get me wrong: getting pleasure from the hum of the main spindle is of course a marasmus, but the sound of the heads is another matter.
It's akin to the aesthetics of a watch with open guts:)

@yrabbit I never realized how much I depended on hearing the drive heads click as a way of knowing what the machine was doing, until I switched to SSDs and that indicator went away.

Really wish they would put those flickering "HDD" drive-access LEDs back on computers. They were handy. Network ones would be too.

That's right!I have a PCIe sata controller in addition to the integrated one, so the activity of each is shown separately: 😉
