It's really a shame that is heading this way. Cryptocurrency and blockchain are overhyped and unproven and this will make it even more difficult to recommend Signal now.

@joeo10 matrix implemented shadowbanning, so it's already compromised. Check out XMPP or IRCv3 instead. They are old, reliable, and stable, which exactly what you need for infrastructure. Reject hype, embrace tradition.

@musicmatze A lot of people recommended many years ago, even before alternatives came like matrix. I have been pushing away from it over the last year due to their PIN feature and this announcement was the last straw.

@joeo10 I read it, and yes, it's obvious that this is not something good for Signal, let alone for the users who believe in the platform because of what it promised.

We'll have to wait a couple of weeks more to see how it develops, but it's not looking any good for Signal...
