Telnet is available again for the Altair now that I've (hopefully) fixed that forkbomb bug!

You can telnet to `mpcclub.info` port 8080 to mess with the Altair or port 8081 to watch the live log.

You can always, of course, `ssh -p 422 altair@mpcclub.info` or `ssh -p 422 altair-log@mpcclub.info` too ;)

So I finally got my new modem, BUT it turns out Netgear can't make routers (go figure) that *actually* deliver gigabit speeds over gigabit ports, so I'm ordering all new networking stuff that I've had on my Amazon wishlist for a good while now.

LOOK OUT WORLD, I'M ON MY WAY TO GIGABIT INTERNET SOON

@yrabbit I absorbed their knowledge while pressing the delete button ;)

@notptr Most them were around 10-30 minutes. I'm just too lazy to watch a lot of videos I want to watch if they're over 5 minutes, so I pile them up in my watch later lol

A lot of the videos I just either wasn't that interested in anymore or I already had watched and they were just still on there, so I didn't feel like I was losing anything removing them ;>

Just upgraded to gigabit internet! (It's DOCSIS 3 so only 50mbps up... but still!) It was only $15 more than my 200/20 plan, so I'm happy about it.

Now I've just gotta wait on my new modem to get here so I can get that nice 1000mbps down speedtest.net screenshot...

I reduced my YouTube Watch Later playlist from over 800 videos to just 83!!

I can breathe again @ v @

AND THERE WAS A GOOD 20 OR 30 SECONDS WORTH OF SCROLL BEFORE THAT

When you realize you might have accidentally forkbombed your own server...

This is running the command
`ps aux | grep altair` btw

@snowdusk@tilde.zone I want to sleep for ten thousand years or so to restore the youth I've lost from stress and all-nighters
TT v TT )

I'm already working lol so I think I'm going to work on getting my CompTia A+ certification and maybe CCNA to see if I can get promoted to something higher paying than PC Tech. I want to go back to AIU and get a second undergrad degree, so I'm just investing as much money on the side as I can and hoping it will eventually amount to enough

@snowdusk@tilde.zone snowdusk you can't just call the Wii vintage 🥲 I don't want to accept that it's oooooooldddd

Computer Club's third HTML lesson went well! This time was mostly just practice from all the stuff we learned before. You can check out members' exercises as well as summaries of our lessons over at mpcclub.info/downloads/html_le

The screenshot is of the page I did for this lesson :>

@snowdusk@tilde.zone Not with honors but I'm just glad to be done ^^; I'd be happy to go back to college in Japan, but I don't think I'd ever want to go back to Millsaps lol

@publius I love it when I find old-HTML-compliant pages or find that a page I haven't visited in several years hasn't changed since the early 2000s.

It especially feels nice when you find a website that's just as handcrafted as people's gopher holes. I think that's a big part of what made the old web special.

@nohomosuperior@todon.nl YOU DOUBT ME BUT LOOK AT THE SOURCE FOR THESE PAGES

IT JUST MAKES MORE SENSE TO USE HTML BUILT-INS WHEN AVAILABLE THAN AN ABSOLUTE MASSACRE OF CSS

I started teaching some CSS last week and I was gonna move on to more CSS and DIVs this week, but now I've gotta explain to people the reason we have CSS is because the web is so bloated and tiny examples like this one aren't the best lol

@snowdusk@tilde.zone May! I'm just waiting on them to grade my senior essay and then mail me my diploma!

Also it's Moss Point Computer Club now ;)
discord.gg/KBZ594q2

Just made an HTML4/5 version of a page with CSS and then made a version without CSS that's HTML3.2 compliant as an example for Computer Club, and not gonna lie, kinda mad that the version without CSS makes more sense than the one that does....

@snowdusk@tilde.zone (This is separate from Computer Club btw, which is open to anyone and meets year-round!)

@snowdusk@tilde.zone Graduating and passing on the torch to the next president lol

We're planning on resuming next semester, but we're still unsure about if stuff is gonna be online/offline and whether or not the next president is going to be able to get members (or if he's going to take off a semester from school). Literally every member right now besides him is graduating or no longer at Millsaps, so it's uncertain territory.

We intend to continue it, though, one way or another!
