I have next week off but it promises to be a very busy one, getting ready for our first real group of visitors in several years. And the first public exposure for the new kitchen. It isn't 100% done, but pretty close. We want to close off the tops of the cabinets, because you can see them from the top of the stairs, but that's really about it. Still plenty to do before visitors though!

I didn't even have to stay up late to watch the ending of the Patriots game even. They were winning 16-0 late in the game, so I turned it off and went to bed. They ended up winning 25-0 in what some were calling the longest last 2 minutes of a football game ever. It was a sloppy win, especially on offense, but they did what they had to do and now they are looking good, playoff-wise.

## Morning Mastodonians!

Another pretty good morning at hockey. Only 3 pucks got behind me and there wasn't much I could do on any of them. One was a tip in front that went 5 hole, another was off the stick of my defense and over my shoulder and the third was a breakaway I made the first stop on but he jammed home the rebound. It was a late tying goal, but we got the winner a few minutes later, so it all ended well.

So yeah, I will drag myself down into the salt mine for a couple more days. Sprint starts today, which is always a tedious process. Actually the process isn't bad, just the metrics are fictional, broken and pointless. I still need to figure out how to play the game, if the game needs to be played. I might as well be doing it in the darkness anyway.

My back is bothering me and I'm not sure why. Wondering if I should not go to hockey tomorrow. Something beyond the usual lower back stiffness, a real stabbing pain when I move a certain way. Probably just spending too much time sitting. I have been too lazy to even pull up the standing desk these days. Although the last time I did, my knees hurt for a week. Damn, getting old sucks.

The week slowly grinds to an end. I do have next week off, so there's that. But it will probably be an incredibly busy one, as we are having some family and friends over for Thanksgiving. We did get the new chairs for the kitchen counter in and I put them all together - all 7! It is beginning to take shape. I'll have to put together a movie of the work done. Pretty impressive (and expensive). But the end result is very nice.

Watched the new *Dune* movie last night with M. It has some pretty spectacular visuals and sound, even if the dialog is muddy and too quiet. I enjoyed it. Probably even if you haven't read the book, it would make some sense, which is more than can be said for previous adaptations. A fine way to spend 2.5 hours.

But it is back into the abyss of the salt mine, while I claw my way to the end of the week. Meeting schedule is light on Wednesdays, which is always appreciated. I need to get the schedule in order for the next sprint, which is probably even less fun than meetings. But it must be done. It will be done. It shall be done.

Again, because C is on vacation, no Halo tonight. We could do a 3 player R:6 Siege game, but instead M and I are going to watch the new Dune. It leaves HBOMax in a few days I think, so I wanted to get this in. I watched a bit of the beginning and then figured it would make a good movie night. Glad I have the new subwoofer for this baby!

No D:OS2 last night, so instead I played another adventure in the Pathfinder ACG, which is pretty fun, although game play may be getting a little stale. I should finish off the first Adventure Path(tm) before putting it back on the shelf though. I have 2 more scenarios to play. Still tempted to pick up the second game in the series, *Skull & Shackles*, which is a decent price on the Paizo website. Maybe a Christmas gift to myself.

## Morning Mastodonians!

Hey, it's Hump Day! And a big one it is too, because I am off all next week. Probably spend most of it preparing for a family Thanksgiving, but still, better than working, amirite? I am tempted to fly to New York city to meet up with the head of the company, but I think I will just stay here. Going to do the flight next month, both for the company party and we'll stick around a few extra days, becaus who wouldn't want to do Christmas in New York?

The only thing more depressing than a gloomy day in the salt mine is a gloomy day filled with meetings. Yay for Monday. This morning has all too many meetings, but the afternoon looks free, so maybe work can actually get done. Guess we will see.

No D:OS2 tonight, as C is away on vacation. Flying to Hawaii, after a short stay in Seattle. Good luck with that! They already got diverted to Boise. Yeah, speaking of mass transit, I am not ready to fly, although one or two flights to NYC may be in the near future. I'll have to buck up and do it. Break out the N95 mask, I guess.

Had to rush home so G could take the car into work. In pre-COVID days, I used to drop her off at the train before heading to hockey, but she, understandably, isn't quite ready for a 30 minute train ride. It's a pretty good deal, as her work gives her a free T pass but COVID is still strong, even here in Mass, with over 3,000 new cases last Thursday and Friday. I have my booster scheduled for new week.

## Morning Mastodonians!

A good morning on the ice. Only gave up 2 goals and felt pretty good - anticipating the play, moving well and staying light on my skates, shutting down the 5 hole a few times. The first goal was annoying, as it was a sharp angle one from my left. I need to get my position better on those. But the other one was after a scramble in front of my net. I got over well enough, but a great shot put it over my right shoulder. We won easily, 7-2, so I'm happy with the result.

So it is off to the salt mine today, trudging into its dark despair. A slight delay this morning, as I am getting an in home physical for life insurance. And I only have to face up to a week of it, then I get a week off, as I am taking the 3 days before turkey day off too. We can do this!
