Banner weekend for stuff. Worked several new states on HF towards Worked All States, made my first PSK31 contact on 20m, and worked my first station on an FM satellite!

Successfully set up my Othernet ( receiver today! Pulled down satellite radio, weather, news, and a few Wikipedia articles. Pretty cool!

Ended up moving to 17 meters and made a few contacts with far fewer superstations crushing the band

I think everyone is off work and testing out their new radios today. 20m FT8 is NUTS. I usually operate QRP on FT8 and there are US stations blowing my doors off in addition to the usual Italian stations coming in at > 12 dB....

If you're waiting for the #Pinebook Pro then here are the shipping dates:

ISO keyboard units: December 24th ANSI keyboard units: December 31st - January 5th.

Happy Holidays!

Day 2 on FT8 featured a contact with someone 5 miles away on 20m 🤣🤣🤣

Could have used 2m simplex most likely LOL

Made my first FT8 contacts today! Worked a station in Washington State from Maryland! Magical

good post about how nerd communities' mass-adoption of the closed and proprietary Discord platform will inevitably lead to the long-term loss of (or loss of access to) mountains of special-interest group knowledge and community history

"TLDR; It is not a very future-proof way of knowledge-building & archiving at all."

@nonlinear your last few boosts are near and dear to me - I was worried about several amateur radio lists with the shutdown of Yahoo groups but most seem to have moved to I don't want Slack or Discord anywhere near information that matters

I don't operate CW, but I tuned over to the lower portion of the 20m band and WOW there are a TON of people participating in the CW contest this weekend. Probably saw hundreds of stations in a few minutes!

Folks if you have a OnePlus 6T DO NOT upgrade to Android 10 yet. Bricked my phone

Don't know how other hams feel about this, but I'd never buy an HT that wasn't programmable via CHIRP.

Just had my first contact on HF - thanks N9MM! He was activating Sam Houston National Forest on 20 meters

This is also a great way of avoiding certain sites like while still consuming content

Man I love RSS feeds that have full article text - nothing like the comfort of my own email client...

I highly recommend switching to a soft close toilet seat if you don't have one - great quality of life move
