Finally came to the realization that all RSS readers really just reinvent email and switched to rss2email. Best "RSS reader" ever

in the WIN column! Always great to get a series win in NY

Bonus is the pricing is very competitive and it's a couple of clicks if you already have your domains with Namecheap

I never see this mentioned (most people seem to like Fastmail), but I've had a good experience with Namecheap's Private Email offering: namecheap.com/hosting/email/

It uses OpenXchange which is a nice, clean interface. Only knock is their drive offering doesn't seem to support WebDAV, though they support CardDAV/CalDAV perfectly...

I'm a sucker for cheap flash storage. Everytime there's an Amazon sale I buy something it seems...

Almost forgot: happy opening day everyone! The lost but there will be quite a bit of that this season...

Tired: complaining about AMP emails

Wired: blacklisting all incoming text/html emails

I’ll whitelist your news media site when you can guarantee the ads displayed aren’t malware vectors

Google just told me to get an archive of my Google+ data...man it was small and sad. Two of the 6 or so status updates lamented the fact it was a ghost town 😂

Watched "Thud Pilots" on Amazon prime yesterday - highly recommend if you're into military history. It's about pilots who flew the F105 Thunderchief (Thud) in Vietnam.

Lots of interviews with the actual pilots and detail on rescue operations (the Thud got shot down a lot for various reasons)

I also redid my site using the Hugo static site generator. Fantastic experience and I'm looking forward to learning how to customize further!

Finally got off my ass and wrote a blog post. More to come hopefully!

Thanks to @seven1m for the encouragement to write one on SSE

Another random tech thought for the day: using GNU Stow for managing things I would normally just put in my home directory has been awesome

Great for managing dotfiles too

gnu.org/software/stow/

I think I'll write an actual blog post about this but I had cause to use server-sent events at $WORK and I feel they are underappreciated. I see people reach for WebSockets instead even when full duplex is not required...

Earl Thomas...I love the signing but that's seriously high risk/high reward! Let's hope he stays healthy...

For sites that only need minimal JS interaction, I like intercooler too:

intercoolerjs.org

Gonna be weird to see T Sizzle in another uniform this year...

I don't like Rust. Please stop asking my why sway isn't written in it and acting like it's the most obvious thing in the world that it should be

The news about Alex Trebek is just crushing. The man is a legend. I'm thinking Ken Jennings might be a good replacement...

Mastodon @ SDF

"I appreciate SDF but it's a general-purpose server and the name doesn't make it obvious that it's about art." - Eugen Rochko
