Well, I do assume that intelligence agencies and military will see a lot of positive things for them in Quantum Computing, so I think a lot of progress will be made.

@waweic @im I think quantum computers will be owned by governments and very rich people, because you need some special condtitions to run it (such is near absolute 0 temperature for behaviour like superconductor etc.). I'm no expert in this field but seems to me that world wide usage of quantum computers is not in near future.

Yes, that's where I see the problem. They are trying to let us implement technology that they will be able to crack while at the same time, they can use quantum encryption that we can't crack.

@johny @waweic I feel like the question of widespread usage is tangential to whether quantum computers are a threat to blockchain technology. There only has to be one powerful quantum computer in the world to pose a threat to all ECC-based blockchains.
