@vfrmedia did you use -D 9999 (or w/e port) via ssh? I use contabo and it is allowed no problem.

@gemlog I haven't had a chance to try it yet - although was this using a VPS or via sdf.org, as I think I do also have an EU account (but its a different server and looked after by different folk..)

@vfrmedia I routinely use -D with either vps in contabo.de One is in munich and I forget where the other one is -- I just wanted them to be in different dc's as they back each other up.
SDF wouldn't let me use -D. I don't know if that's because I'm not validated, or because that is simply their policy. Or maybe even port 9999 is already used and I should have tried another? Dunno. Or, just thought, it's maybe too low a port, coz I'm gemlog and not root. I should try again just for that reason.

@vfrmedia yes, that was it. Doh! :-)
-D 32456 succeeded.
I don't think I've ever had a shell account on a box that I don't control fully before.

@vfrmedia cool. now I can be in .ca, .us or .de as needed.

@vfrmedia :-(

It won't pass the packets though :-(
