I am somewhat puzzled by text scams of the form "hi, is this the vet, my doggy won't eat." So obviously the intention is the mark replies no, wrong number. But then how does that lead to sending them your bank password?

I recently started receiving many more texts of this variety, but everything online just says oh no, very dangerous, never reply or your life is ruined. What?
