Seriously, I don’t even understand why this position exists at a congregation. It is clear that I have a different expectation regarding congregational staffing.

@cs It does sound very marketing-speaky. But I wonder whether it's a fancy way to describe someone who essentially is just responsible for figuring out whether specific tangible goals are being met. Maybe this is the guy who designs and sends out the survey after the Christmas storytime event to see what could be done better next time. I'm trying to be charitable here, because I had the same initial reaction you did!
