I wouldn't mind more mirrored sites though.

For those on tenterhooks by my 'I am meeting new people for the first time since summer 2020 and I am nervous' and my 'why did the parcel delivery person come by without delivering' issues, I wrote a post expanding them and describing their aftermaths:

@viv this is what I do: list ten things, append fun subordinate to-dos to some as incentives; use random.org to list what I do first, then do the fun subordinate ones only and call it accomplished, only I still have eight - nine things left to do tomorrow

I wish the actions of the human in this comic strip didn't apply quite so much to me today. Time Management Skills needed

@avalon Did you feel the need to yell at a selfcare bot? I felt the need for comedy. I thought of elaborating with non-physical options, but a joke shouldn't need explaining, and I was eager to attract my Mastopals with stationery fetishes

@gemlog Your post is now boostable. It doesn't have the same general-interest value as links to text-only news pages, so I won't try it out.
My PC's been on life support. To-do list item #8672 is to do fs-lint to delete dupes on both my external backup drives and copy ALL mp3s so I can vary my openmic streams on SDF aNONradio

Hi everyone. I'm new.

looks like some pretty cool peeps on here!

@xmanmonk thank you. My erstwhile companion announced this morning he is planning to go. He's met some cachers already. Nice to know I won't be alone at a picnic table.

I plan to go to my first outdoor event in years this morning, and my first gathering as a single since the early 1990s.
I am told I will be introduced to the "cool people", some who have heard of me. Not worried about what to talk about, or how to avoid people I don't want to talk to. I'm anxious about making a good impression.

@trebach I don't doubt it. Good thing this is a fediverse and not a centralized, commoditized platform and people have a choice among hundreds at least of instances, without some faulty, lazy algorithm making contextless decisions of what can be published and shared.

How is it that fediverse members think that reporting a dissenting opinion will lead to the dissenter's suspension, when the dissenter is respectful, uses neutral language and isn't abusive?
Why not publicly counter the dissent with respectfully submitted, sound facts and arguments with the possibility of shaming or correcting them? Think of the lurking dissenters who could be converted, and the lurkers who have additional supporting evidence for a position.

@publius They don't. Those kinds of people make up labels without much or any truth to them. They support a mayoral candidate who has assault charges in my province.

@xmanmonk Most of my conversations doesn't mean most of my time. I'm talking about customer service, telemarketers, healthcare people and vaccine agents...
