Has anyone practiced #pranayama as part of #meditation or #yoga? If yes, please share your experience and evaluation of pranayama's effectiveness.
@cosullivan also act of breathing when done through your diafragm it helps to oxygenate your blood and helps loosing fat specially in the area of abdomen. If you are calm you will breath deeply and evenly and breathing deep and evenly somehow reverses the cycle and you become calm. 2
@cosullivan But if you have a certain direction in mind for example let's say if you want to increase your focus conditioning your focus with act of breathing( which is an act something you always do) has a tremendous effect in progression through the goal you have in mind. There is so many benefits that I have had experienced and I would be glad to answer questions if you have any.
@cosullivan I've done some breath work both with a facilitator and alone. I have found it to be helpful to relax the body and mind. It can be used to decrease physical pain or induce ecstatic states if done properly and for long enough in one sitting, though I have not pursued those benefits.
Generally I find that you can get some quick results if you've never done it before, but it becomes a serious commitment if you want to take it far.
@cosullivan
When I saw your toot at first I thought I encountered an strange word. Pranayama is a practice which focuses on the prana or the so called energy that we get from breathing.
I am practicing breathing techniques and it is wonderful but you have to set the direction in order to get real benefits. But generally my sense of calm and self control has increased dramatically. Doing prana yoga exactly before sleep increases the likelihood of sleeping very well and deep. 1
