IMO it’s unlikely, from the day you “swear in”, throughout all of boot camp and at regular trainings after its beat into you that you serve the constitution and that you can and SHOULD disregard an illegal order and what constitutes an illegal order AND an illegal order from the Commander in chief especially is still an illegal order and should be dealt with accordingly

Its a few different reasons I’ve seen.

1. .world admins have stated they are now hesitant to defederate from instances now that user-side instance blocking was rolled out (Even though it’s nothing but a “mute”, it does not function properly and likely done so on purpose)

2. Indeed, another reason cited is “they have some of the biggest comms!” Which is technically true by SUBSCRIBER count, which means that 40k subscriber count on .ml memes or whatever is almost assuredly all DEAD accounts.

By the much better metric of MAUs, .ml memes doesn’t even crack the top 10, whereas !memes@lemmy.world is in the top 5 despite having not even half the subscriber count

3. Another one is that some of the lucky/more passive users “Don’t see what all the fuss is about”

I’m cross-posting content from .ml comms to the nearest non-.ml comm as part of ongoing boycotting efforts to reduce .ml’s influence to make defederation an easier decision for admins everywhere because of the .ml admins and mods insistence to push their Tankie ideology through various means from censorship of views critical of Authoritarian regimes such as Russia or China (and even criticism of the right-wing)to allowing propaganda outlets (such as RT) to flourish. This is not about any specific comm or user, but the toxicity of the .ml instance and it’s admins as a whole

So unfortunately, while I understand your annoyance, I have come to the conclusion that I cannot be granting exceptions to people for this and that content otherwise it will harm those efforts.

I will, however, strive to properly credit those who post OC, as I have done here.

That being said, I don’t cross-post content much at all that doesn’t originate on a .ml comm, why don’t you post here on !corvids@sopuli.xyz and help contribute to the growth of other less… controversial… instances?
