This was the coldest winter that most people remember on Naxos. It finally should be over in a few days. Funny how I remember plans last autumn of how *this* winter we'll go for picnics by the sea ... and now we're just saying: "Maybe we could turn the heating on just for a little bit? Maybe we could not think about the war for a little bit?"

Woke up this morning with a feeling of "nothing bad in the world". Obviously only until I rememebered the war.

In the last days I had followed @zloygik in Mykolaev (aka Nikolaev). At night when I went to bed, the account was quiet for 5h, so now I rushed to check if there is some sign of life. Which there was. There was also a link:

Is the "Home" mastodon timeline expected to be unreliable?

From an account that I am following (@zloygik) there are the
latest few posts there, then a bunch of them are missing, then again
some are there. That account is on a different instance. So, is this
normal?

So I created my account ~19 hours ago. I followed 44 accounts, none of
which I knew personally or communicated with before. I posted 4 "toots"
(including "hello world").

In response I got:

I can say, it's a pretty open and welcoming bunch around here!

Mind blown here: For years I've been using par(1) to reformat paragraphs in vim. Which does an aesthetically pleasant job, but the documentation and configuration is mildly speaking *nuts*. And today for no obvious reason I came across the vim-builtin "gq" command. Which does it all and with some extra magic.

So far I've followed a bunch of accounts I've seen on the public
timeline of sdf and bsd.network. Not sure if I have the best way to
do this. My goal is to be able to read the interesting stuff from
both these instances (minus a few of those that are uninteresting to
me).

It seemed a bit much manual labour at first, but I guess I don't
need to do it so often. The advantage of looking at the public timeline
is that I might spot any new people/accounts. Let's see how it will
work out for now.
