I like the 2:1 aspect radio. Taller than scope aspect for films, wider than 9:16. It's like a taller cinematic look. Kinda wish they made screens like that.
Storaro completely ignores the fact that the 16:9 ratio was explicitly adopted by the SMPTE as the best compromise which could be devised between the Cinemascope & Academy ratios. (The original Japanese HDTV work was all done at 5:3, which is or at least used to be common for theatrical films there.) He would simply consign all the vast mass of 4:3 film & TV material to oblivion.
