Apt Updates on Public WiFi with

McDonald's and Starbucks' adult content filtering are blocking apt updates. Here's how to keep you system up to date.

@art Strangely enough, I was at a McDonalds this morning, and thought of using Tor (though I didn't). Can't remember whether I updated something, though.

@art You can also use the apt-transport-tor package and set your sources.list to use Debian's Tor hidden service gateways. That way things like unattended-upgrades can take advantage of it.

@art it's weird that they are blocking software updates for Debian Linux Distros, do they do the same for software updates on Windows & macOS?

@catgirl Not sure. I don't think they're targeting Linux. I think they're just blocking something else and the apt repos might be caught accidentally.
