Do you like #gopher and #gemini? Are you in open revolt against the devilish mainstream internet, renouncing Web 2.0 and all its works?
If you use terminal colours via internet, please hit me up, here or on the textnet. I’m trying to make a central depot for gopher and Gemini colour sites, especially any artists doing ASCII/UTF8/BIG5 &c.

What can I say; I’m a bbs kid. I like CLI text. I like pretty primary colours.
A nifty client would be a WYSIWYG one which allows terminal drawing to gophermaps and txt files on the fly, both switched for CG2, regular ansi escape colour #gopher, and plain monochrome. A simple optional colour chart of values at the top would help compose. Then the colours are rendered from switch-unmasked alternating odd lines.
When saved, it would be a quickly completed colour gopher ASCII art.
I shall ponder this. It would be heaps cute.
Some kind of header could indicate a gophermap or txt file is to be read by client as having a GC2 layer.
Also, of course it should be as human readable as possible so it just interlaces with the codes. That way people with standard clients can read everything fine.
More characters could be used to mush in more FG/BG combinations, natch. But again, keeping to human legibility so you can paint without a special client, just a chart.
Colour #Gopher 2 brainstorm:
Colour tags are on odd lines, text on even. Clients would have a CG2 mode to read the character tags as ansi colour escapes for single chars the line below. 16 VGA for character, then optional 16 for background. Default is black. Thus, 30-60 colours can be articulated:
1 ymYbYrYbYmYy
2 (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)
Could make a cute lil face with yellow/orange skin, magenta cheeks, black eyes, and red smile. This would be easier to paint than FG/BG codes and use less line space.
Renewing my call for more colour escape support in #Gopher.
No, it doesn’t pollute the glorious purity of Gopher. It merely adds a content layer for them as want it, which others can ignore. It’s like the formatting which clients already provide to make item types lovelier. Let clients use ansi colour escapes in gophermaps. That way we can make pretty. Please? 🙆🏽♀️
Here is what a nice test page which @Cat made for #GopherColour looks like in a browser which doesn’t support ANSI colour escape codes. This is the new client for iOS.
If you go to Gopher://baud.baby/1/test with @solderpunk ‘s lovely #VF1 client, this renders in nice BBS style colour.

So going forward, it probably is good form to make #Gopher maps select for regular or colour. I shall try! https://mastodon.sdf.org/media/D4rLeijfghFBJWcmbw0
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
@solderpunk makes the awesome #VF-1 #Gopher client.
I asked for ANSI colour escape code support on the Gopher email list a while ago and was poopooed by most...
The purists judged it couldn’t be done - that such a notion was an abomination. A heresy! 😥
But he did it; thanks to Solderpunk’s VF-1, #GopherColour is alive!
Mwahahahahahahaaaaa... 🎃🌈
This is seriously the best phlog reader out there, too. Try it!

Vertrauen is the stately flagship #bbs for the Synchronet bbs server.
Joy upon joy, they provide direct #Gopher access to many of the goodies on offer, including real time DOVE-net, Fidonet, and fsxnet boards.
I was pleased to discover these fora rather active, and with #hamradio discussions.
