In other words: if you want to do complex things, you have to learn complex tools.
Or even: if you want to swim, or ride a bike, or drive a car, you have to spend some time to learn (how to swim, ride a bike, drive a car).
The author of the original article does not seem willing to learn bash. So he won't be able to use it. End of story.
You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I will add that this is a VERY polite and diplomatic version of my first reaction.
On the other hand, it's people like this - those who are unwilling to put in the time and the effort to learn complex tools - that keep me in business. Because I think I (superficially) know bash (or ksh, ash, dash, etc).
And on the other other hand, these are also the same kind of people who will look down on others for not being as "educated" as themselves... once they have learned bash.
