This is pretty wild: I found a free utility named Hugin that can stich multiple photos together into a panorama, and I'm using it to pretty successfully recombine a poster that had to be scanned in 4 pieces.

Does much better than I could by hand in paint dot net.

Once I got the basics down, I had it output results via multiple methods, and then flipped between them in an image viewer to compare them. Anything that "wobbled" indicated that more "control points" were probably needed to help align the images better.

The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is that this letter "o" gets squished, despite having a bunch of control points around it.

I guess it's just a case of "something's got to give."
