Got a Philips CD-i a week ago with a few educational titles. Replaced the drive belt and the thing loads right up, plays burned games perfectly! Let me know if you happen to have a spare video expansion card laying around so I can watch CD-i digital video discs.
@Famicoman How's the original version of Burn: Cycle on that platform?
@drwho It's the only version I've ever played, and let's just say that everything you've heard about the CDi controller being terrible is true. However, I love the music and the graphics are '90s cyberpunk in the best way. It reminds me a bit of Perfect Dark.
@Famicoman I haven't heard anything about it (I didn't even know anyone who had that console when it was out) but I'll take your word for it.
It sounds like the graphics aren't too different from the DOS version that I used to play when I was a kid. Did yours come with a copy of the soundtrack on CD?
@drwho Nah, I just burned off a copy, so no official soundtrack for me. I definitely understand how this is known a bit as a hidden gem for the platform, but that's not saying too much. I sort of like it though, in some weird way.
@Famicoman I still have a copy of it somewhere if you want to give it a listen.
So do I. It had a certain charm (though not the FMV clips).
@drwho I was able to track down a copy of the soundtrack, so I'm good to go!
@Famicoman Excellent. :)
